About Flagler County and Palm Coast

Flagler County, Florida is one of the best-kept secrets in the United States.  Its untouched natural beaches, tranquil waterways, subtropical forests, spectacular golf courses, gorgeous parks and prime location to many area attractions entice enthusiasts of nature and relaxation.  The area basks in sunshine nearly every day of the year.  Its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean moderates the temperatures of winter and summer, raising January’s average to 58.9 degrees and July’s average to 81.6 degrees.  There are three seasons: Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Flagler County is located midway between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city.  It is bordered on the east by 19 miles of natural Atlantic Ocean beaches.  Exit 284 on Interstate 95 is the closest exit to the beach from Maine to Miami.

In addition to nature and relaxation, Flagler is also located close to area attractions such as Walt Disney World, Marineland, and Spaceport USA at the Kennedy Space Center.  Whether you’re feeling the roar of the famous Daytona Speedway or strolling down the streets of historic St. Augustine, the sights are memorable.

The surf is up in Flagler Beach with its six miles of ocean frontage.  Once a sleepy beach community, it now is a thriving neighborhood with a growing population of approximately 5,000.  Thousands visit each year to take advantage of its dramatic, natural shores.  Charming beach shops, enchanting bed and breakfasts, and quaint restaurants lure visitors to this part of A1A designated as a Scenic Highway.

Palm Coast was started as a community development project by ITT in the late 1970’s and was incorporated as a city in December, 1999.  Carved out of the heavily wooded coast and the wetlands of eastern Flagler County, Palm Coast has driven the county’s nonstop growth as the population exceeds 50,000.

Palm Coast offers a hometown feel to its visitors and residents.  Here, the avid golfer may sense that he has found heaven on the many stunning golf courses.  Tennis, boating, surfing, and fishing abound and new construction is happening everywhere.  The area is exploding with growth.

This community has a diversified population in all aspects, including race, religion, culture, demographic background and age.  Commerce has expanded, making this not only an attractive place to live, but also a good place to bring your business and to work.  Palm Coast has experienced growth in commerce, industry, and services business, and without doubt, there is still further growth to come.
